maxresdefaultAs the appointed Honorary Officers for uMkhuze, we volunteer our time and expertise to supplement and support the staff of EKZNW in their efforts within the park.

We are jointly appointed by local Ezemvelo Conservation Managers and the Honorary Officer Group Committees for each Ezemvelo Station or District. We rely on fundraising and donations to fund various projects we assist with.

Honorary Officers’ duties and powers are specifically legislated in terms of the KZN Nature Conservation Management Amendment Act. Honorary Officer status enables volunteers to act as agents of EKZNW, as specified by all relevant legislation and enjoying both the responsibilities and privileges attached to this status.

We are all about conservation and that means doing whatever is necessary: litter patrol, alien invader eradication, patrolling, helping to marshall a mountain bike race, installation and maintenance of equipment/facilities, fundraising for projects, supporting the uMkhuze Anti Poaching Unit (APU) & rangers and assisting with purchasing of much needed equipment.
