uMkhuze game reserve Enviromental Education Camp

uMkhuze HOs have been assisting with ongoing maintenance and upkeep of the uMkhuze Enviromental Camp since its refurbishment in 2022. The camp focusses on teaching conservation education to children from surrounding rural community schools. They come in school groups and spend a weekend living in newly built dormitories with full ablution facilities as well as full kitchen facilities. During their stay, the children are taught about the different fauna and flora found in the reserve, and the importance of conserving their wildlife for future generations. Most of these children come from communities who have not been taught about the importance of the protection of, and co-existence of the communities with the uMkhuze Game Reserve. The uMkhuze Game Reserve also creates jobs for people from the surrounding communities, The education of these children has also become very instrumental in reducing poaching in the reserve.
